Information we collect
When you use our enquiry forms, we collect the information you choose to provide, including your name, email address, telephone number and message. Your message may also contain details about a property, proposed building work or other information relevant to your enquiry.
Please do not send sensitive personal information through the website enquiry form unless it is genuinely necessary for us to understand your request.
Our web server and hosting systems may also create technical and security logs, such as IP address, request time, browser information and requested URL. These logs are used for website delivery, security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
How and why we use personal information
| Purpose | Information | UK GDPR lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Respond to an enquiry and discuss requested work or a quotation. | Name, contact details, enquiry and project information. | Steps at your request before entering into a contract where applicable, and our legitimate interests in responding to and managing enquiries. |
| Manage an ongoing customer or supplier relationship and keep necessary business records. | Contact, project, quotation and correspondence information. | Contract, legitimate interests and legal obligations, depending on the record. |
| Protect the website and prevent spam or misuse. | Technical request information and limited anti-abuse records. | Our legitimate interests in operating a secure and reliable website and, where relevant, compliance with legal security obligations. |
| Optional website analytics. | Website usage information collected by Google Analytics after you accept analytics cookies. | Your consent. You can withdraw it at any time using Cookie settings. |
We do not use a website enquiry as automatic permission to send unrelated promotional email. If we introduce optional email marketing, it will be handled separately and in accordance with the applicable direct-marketing rules.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information. We may share information where reasonably necessary with service providers that support our business, such as website hosting, email and IT providers, professional advisers, and contractors or suppliers involved in a requested project. We may also disclose information where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
If you accept analytics cookies, website usage information is sent to Google Analytics. Google acts as a technology provider for that service. Google may process information using infrastructure outside the UK; international transfers must be protected using an appropriate UK data-transfer mechanism where required.
How long we keep information
- Website enquiries: normally up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless the information becomes part of an ongoing quotation, contract or project, or must be retained longer for legal, accounting, insurance or dispute purposes.
- Business and project records: retained for the period reasonably necessary for the relevant contract, warranty, legal, tax, accounting, insurance or claims requirements.
- Security and anti-abuse records: kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
- Google Analytics: configure the Analytics property to retain user-level event data for no more than 14 months unless a shorter period meets the business need. Aggregated reporting may remain available for longer.
- Cookie preference: our first-party preference cookie is set for 180 days, after which we may ask for your choice again.
Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights including access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, erasure, restriction, objection to certain processing and data portability. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may need enough information to confirm your identity and understand your request.
Cookies and analytics
Cookies and similar storage technologies can save or access information on your device. This website uses a small first-party preference cookie so that it can remember whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics.
Google Analytics is optional on this site. The Google Analytics script is not requested from Google until you positively accept analytics. If you reject analytics, we do not intentionally load Google Analytics and we attempt to remove any Google Analytics cookies previously set by this site.

Security and external links
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. No website or email system can be guaranteed completely secure, so please avoid sending information that is not necessary for your enquiry.
This website may link to third-party websites. Those websites have their own privacy practices and Cobbydale Construction Limited is not responsible for how an external website uses information after you leave this site.
